The registration of an industrial design or model offers its owner exclusive rights. The registration will enable the owner to prevent others from reproducing, importing for trade or business purpose, rent or sell the industrial design or model for up to 25 years from the registration date. You have to be careful though, because if you haven't registered the design, you will not be able to raise any complaints regarding the ownership and you have no legal protection against copies (unlike the one you would have when trademarks and copyrights are involved).
